Davin Jackson has established a haven for young individuals to delve into technology—an endeavour stemming from his personal journey of finding financial stability in the tech realm, a path he embarked on from an early age. Growing up in Bridgeport, CT, Jackson's fascination with tech burgeoned through hands-on exploration, largely facilitated by his grandmother's encouragement to tinker with gadgets. Reflecting on his formative years, Jackson shared, "I always made sure I put it back together. But I always had that mind to try to figure out how things work and what I could do to make it work differently."

Self-taught in tech, Jackson navigated a non-traditional route, acquiring various certifications and carving out a niche as a cybersecurity trainer and penetration tester. However, his journey was marked by a lack of early opportunities, prompting him to establish Alpha Esports & Technology, a self-funded initiative aimed at providing the younger generation with the opportunities he missed out on.

Through a 1,400-square-foot facility, Alpha Esports & Technology offers a platform for youths to join esports teams, participate in workshops on tech-related subjects, and explore content creation. The center's ethos revolves around leveraging gaming as a conduit for discussions on technology and STEM fields. Jackson is also working on a hybrid workshop model to facilitate remote access for members unable to attend in person.

Moreover, the center prioritizes inclusivity, with mixed-gendered esports teams and dedicated game nights for women and girls, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all participants. Emphasizing the importance of content creation, Jackson encourages mentees to document their technical journeys, recognizing its value in bolstering practical knowledge in fields like cybersecurity.

Looking ahead, Jackson envisions expanding the center's reach and establishing similar hubs nationwide and internationally. His ultimate goal is to foster positivity, provide safe spaces, and equip individuals with transferable skills beyond the realm of gaming.
