Italian furniture brands Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti have recently joined forces for the first time ever. The collaboration involves a reimagining of one of Poltrona Frau's most iconic pieces, the Vanity Fair XC armchair. The original armchair, created by Poltrona Frau founder Renzo Frau in 1930, was renowned for its expert craftsmanship and luxurious materials. Over the years, it became a beloved item in households around the world, cherished by creatives and innovators.

The collaboration between Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti aims to blend their distinct design aesthetics and Italian craftsmanship. Fornasetti, known for its imaginative and creative approach, adds a celestial touch to the contemporary Vanity Fair XC model. This involves incorporating an archival pattern, used previously in decorative objects and upholstery materials, to create a bold and unique aesthetic. The pattern features cloud motifs and a stylized sun with a face and rays, a theme that has been a recurring motif in Fornasetti's art.

To achieve the desired look, Poltrona Frau utilizes a digital printing technique that mimics silk screen printing. This technique allows for the precise replication of lines and gradients on Poltrona Frau's Pelle Frau® Impact Less leather. The panels are then adorned with brushed silver studs and supported by black legs, adding a refined finishing touch to the armchair.

Leonardo Allasia, Poltrona Frau's global marketing and communications director, expressed their admiration for the Fornasetti atelier and its imaginative philosophy. This collaboration, rooted in shared imagination and brought to life through skilled craftsmanship, marks the beginning of a lasting partnership between the two brands.

The Vanity Fair XC Imagine Edition, along with Poltrona Frau's 2024 Imagine Collection, will be unveiled to the public during Salone del Mobile at Poltrona Frau's flagship store in Milan. Following the preview, the armchair will also be showcased at Harrods London's VIP penthouse. Fans will have the opportunity to admire the bespoke craftsmanship and intricate design of the armchair.

Limited to only 50 units, the Vanity Fair XC Imagine Edition will be available for pre-order exclusively in Europe on Poltrona Frau's website until April 10th. After this date, it will be made available for purchase at select Poltrona Frau stores worldwide.
