Yingtao in Manhattan Presents Special 8-Course Menu to Commemorate Lunar New Year - Year of the Dragon
By:
,
Yingtao, a new contemporary Chinese restaurant situated in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, is celebrating the Year of the Dragon with a special menu. Known for its innovative approach to Chinese home cooking, chef-owner Bolun Yao has combined traditional flavors with elevated culinary techniques to create a unique dining experience. To honor the dragon, a symbol of good luck and strength, Yao has curated an eight-course tasting menu that showcases dishes resembling these attributes. The meal begins with fresh oysters served with a hot and sour mignonette, followed by smoked steelhead trout and aonori milk bread. A highlight of the course is the foie gras with Sichuan peppercorn and beetroot, which balances rich and vibrant flavors. The main course features a diverse selection of unconventional protein options, deviating from more traditional Chinese dishes. Alongside dishes featuring wagyu beef and octopus, the menu includes innovative creations such as tofu with celery root and yellowtail cooked with buttermilk and Sichuan pepper. The dumplings, which combine berkshire pork and black truffle, hold a special significance for Yao, reminiscent of his grandmother's handmade dumplings during the Lunar New Year celebrations. In honor of her, Yingtao proudly displays a mosaic portrait of her on one of its walls. As the meal draws to a close, guests are treated to two delightful desserts. The first is Tanghulu, a traditional Chinese candy consisting of sugar-coated fruits skewered on a stick, adding a playful and sweet note to the meal. The second dessert is a walnut and coconut Nian Gao, a type of rice cake that symbolizes the hope for a prosperous new year. Yingtao's Year of the Dragon menu will be available until Saturday, February 17th, providing an opportunity for patrons to savor the unique and creatively crafted dishes.
