20th Century Studios has announced the production of a new standalone Predator film, which will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg. Trachtenberg, who was previously nominated for an Emmy in 2022 for his Predator prequel Prey, will be at the helm of this upcoming installment. Prey followed the thrilling journey of Naru, portrayed by Amber Midthunder, a skilled warrior from the Comanche Nation who fought to protect her people from a significant threat.

The upcoming film, titled Badlands, will take place in the future. While specific details regarding the plot have not been revealed, it has been confirmed that production will begin later this year. Trachtenberg's television movie prequel, Prey, received critical acclaim and made history on Hulu, becoming the platform's most-watched premiere and the TV series and movie with the highest viewing hours in its first three days. Although it is uncertain if Badlands will follow a similar release strategy, anticipation for the film's debut is high.

Badlands will mark the latest addition to the Predator franchise, which began with the release of the original film in 1987. Starring renowned actors Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura, the movie depicted a group of commandos battling aliens in the jungle. This blockbuster success spawned three sequels released in 1990, 2010, and 2018. In addition to Badlands, Trachtenberg is also set to direct the fifth and final season of the popular series Stranger Things.

Fans eagerly await further details on the release and plot of Badlands.
