The Elder Statesman Pre-Fall 2024 Sets Kaleidoscopic Knitwear by the Beach
SoCal knitwear purveyor The Elder Statesman sees human skill as âthe ultimate luxury,â and its the driving force behind the brandâs 21st-century success. Greg Chait launched the label in 2007 with a simple series of cashmere blankets; fast forward almost two decades, and The Elder Statesman supplies a luxurious lifestyle, complete with full menâs and womenâs collections and an entire home line. Today, the emblemâs Pre-Fall 2024 lookbook pictures its way of living by the beach â in kaleidoscopic color.
The collection includes the brandâs freshly-minted surf label, Interdimensional Surf, which employs adaptable textiles to form vintage-looking silhouettes, like fiery workwear trousers, tie-dyed separates and coverup-inspired dresses. The Elder Statesman collaborated with Australian surfer Ozzy Wright, who produces artworks under his alter ego, Ozzy Wrong, on a number of vivid cashmere sweaters that house scribbled wording like âTHE ONLY WAY OUT IS INâ and âOPEN YOUR EYES TO THE WORLD.â
Down the line, graphic illustrations and striking patterns largely define the collectionâs personality. In one ensemble, brown camouflage takes over a crewneck sweater, which finds itself paired with plaid trousers; and in another, a striped polo shirt resides above Bermudas. A pink sweater houses a bright red and blue heart in the center of the chest; a knit vest adopts a modern, block-like motif all over, and a flannel shirt is matched with lime-green-shorts layered over red trousers. For The Elder Statesman, no part of the color wheel is left untouched.
